With rows of new investment coming every
year, Selangor Darul Ehsan was Malaysia’s richest state. However, it is fast
becoming nostalgia. Today the investment for the state is dwindling ever since
Pakatan Rakyat took over the administration.
Selangor is now ranked in number four with
the ever decreasing new investment that has seen a 86% drop with RM 1.8 Billion
in the year 2012 compared to RM 11.7 Billion in 2011. The same scenario is seen
in the state of Pulau Pinang where the state recorded a 73% drop from its
former investment.
With a decrease that is too drastic and
dramatic, the Pakatan Rakyat are no longer able to point fingers to anyone.
After being at the helm of the administration for one term, Pakatan Rakyat
failed to prove that it is smarter or more efficient than Barisan Nasional.
It is clear that investors are not confident
with Pakatan Rakyat credibility. It is not impossible for investors to fear the
acts of PR leaders who are more of a trouble maker rather than administrator.
The state government should promote stability and peace but Pakatan Rakyat
government acts like they are agents of anarchy and turmoil. Who in the right mind would invest in a state
where its leaders are constantly politicizing every or any issue that comes to
mind?
The increase of black market and illegal
activity in the whole of Selangor during their reign also contributes to the
decrease in new investment of the state. The increases of illegal activities
are the source of the increase of crime rates thus proves that there are clear
sign of corruption problem in the state.
Investors have to study this situation and
this is why Selangor is not the destination for investors foreign and
domestics.
When the condition worsen, Pakatan Rakyat
leaders who do not have the charisma or credibility to handle such situation
with overseas investors to attract more foreign money. Even the Menteri Besar
of Selangor does not have the personality that can give more confidence to the
investors, even though he is the representative of his state.
Putting Anwar Ibrahim as the Economic Advisor
for the state of Selangor destroys all hope for Selangor to increase their
revenues. Even though Anwar have good relations with people from other
countries, Anwar fails to have them invest in the state where his party member
is the Menteri Besar. This is because his record of nearly flushing out all of
the rakyat’s money during his reign as the Finance Minister still lingers
around him like a bad case of shingles.
Other than that, there are a few of the
leaders in this state, especially those who are from the DAP party is seen as
incompetent to be brought in an internationally recognized event. Thus, it is
not a surprise why investors keeps clear from any one of them. Even though the
DAP always feels that they are better or much more open from Malay leaders, the
fact remains, that they are much worst.
In conclusion, Pakatan Rakyat leaders from
any of their parties are not good enough to lead a state.
It is because of that, Selangor can no longer
take pride as an investor’s destination state. Selangor economy will be
crippled with the yearly decrease of investors. It is no surprise if Selangor
will see a lower percentage of investment after Ambiga announced that the
biggest demonstration will be held soon.
In conclusion, PR are not equipped to rule
and if the rakyat of Selangor wants this state to be in its former glory, there
are no other ways then giving the BN the mandate to rule in the next general
election.
